Somewhere in my lifetime, Culver City went from wonderbread central to awesome art house mecca. We spent the morning and most of the area in the area, visiting museums. First, breakfast and a wander of the gallery at Royal/T, home of a maid cafe that’s unique in this area but rather popular in Japan and [...] Oh dear, Scoops was a disappointment. On this warm day, one of the freezer’s in the shop broke down. Sadly, it was the half that had the interesting flavors, like strawberry balsamic. We had to order rather plain ice cream, which seemed no better than any other ice cream shop. I ordered the most unique [...] I have been wanting to find excuses to visit LA more often. The area has been too overwhelming for me to handle, especially dealing with traffic and parking. Luckily, Ted’s had some experience with the area, and insisted that Langer’s was the place to go for the best pastrami sandwich. Yes, better than New York! [...] Banchan!!! My friends and I, we admit it, we messed up. Roadtripped to LA for Korean BBQ, and the place we picked said it offered lunch and dinner service, but it turned out lunch service was only on weekdays. This after going through LA traffic one of us described as “fucknuts.” A nearby bakery pointed [...] This is the best museum food I’ve ever had. Definitely not mediocre food served to a captive audience that one normally is stuck with museums. Then again, I suppose the Getty Center does not want to be normal. I had such a good experience at the restaurant, I would consider coming back just to dine [...] Well, I had an excruciating three hours layover at LAX before I could catch my 25 minute flight back to Santa Barbara and the LA Roadhouse was where I opted to spend my extended lunch.
