It had been a year since I’ve dined at TAP, time sure does fly. My friend and I were hungry, but not famished, we just wanted something simple, and ordered one dish each. My friend had a beer and the penang chicken curry, with rice. There was enough leftover she got an additional side of [...] March 14th, 2012 | Tags: green papaya salad, penang, thai chiles | Category: Eating Out, Santa Barbara, Thai food | Leave a comment
I’m a Muen Fan. Oh god, I can’t believe I just typed that. But it’s true. I’ve recently decided to let eating out for Thai food back into my life. Robin and I had taken a long walk with her dog down on the beach and it was time to fill our bellies. She’s heard [...] March 6th, 2011 | Tags: fresh rolls, larb, larb gai, Mesa, pad thai, spring rolls | Category: Eating Out, Santa Barbara, Thai food | Leave a comment
This is now my third time coming here in the last seven days. Both my parents and I are now fans, and they suggested coming here for dinner. It was our first time here during dinner and I can tell you, it makes a big difference if you eat here when there are few tables [...] February 12th, 2011 | Tags: fried rice, green curry, noisy as hell, pad thai | Category: Eating Out, Santa Barbara, Thai food | One comment
Back so soon? Yes! TAP Thai is totally kawaii and the food’s yummy. I talked it up to my parents shortly after my first visit, and we came here for lunch. On my birthday, no less. Today the beverage selection was Singha beer, iced water with lemon and mint, and a Thai iced tea with [...] February 6th, 2011 | Tags: birthday, coconut ice cream, corn cakes, curry, eggrolls, fried banana, thai iced tea | Category: Eating Out, Santa Barbara, Thai food | Leave a comment
Ohmygoodnizz!! Why haven’t I been here before?? My friends and I really dragged our feet over this one, and now we must suffer through the knowledge that every day we didn’t eat here was a missed opportunity. Because TAP is hyper cute and the food is super yums. TAP Thai has the kind of interior [...] February 4th, 2011 | Tags: corn cakes, curry, iced tea, kawaii, panang, pcu noodles, thai iced tea | Category: Eating Out, Santa Barbara, Thai food | Leave a comment
This is the second Andy Nguyen restaurant. It’s actually more of a Mrs. Andy Nguyen since this is run by his wife. The dealio is that she lived in Thailand, eating vegetarian food and came back with a calling for making meat-not-meat dishes, and this Andy Nguyen branch is her playground. It turns out, this [...] September 6th, 2010 | Tags: fish, marshmallow, organic, rice, vegan, vegetarian | Category: Eating Out, Thai food, Vietnamese food | Leave a comment
Pok Pok is remisicent of a Thai food stall, with a combination of street food and dinner dishes served in an outdoor setting that does, indeed, look like a food stall, but with primarily white foodie types lavishing over the dishes. We added little to change that ambiance. Pok Pok also has nationwide recognition for [...] April 1st, 2010 | Tags: cocktails, game food, street foot | Category: Bars, Eating Out, Portland, Thai food | Leave a comment
Dinner was supposed to be at Pok Pok, but unsurprisingly there was a wait to be seated. That is okay, the unofficial waiting space is the Whiskey Soda Lounge across the street. The appetizers are the same menu as are most of the cocktails. Pok Pok will call over to say the table is ready.
