Tula Tea Room – Culver City

Modesty hidden on the upper floor of the Museum of Jurassic Technology was this pleasant surprise – a small Russian tea room. We had no idea this was here, and a number of friends who’ve visited the MOJT in earlier years said there was no third floor at all. So this must be new.
We thought we were walking into another display room. Instead the top of the stairs opened out with tables, with people lounging at them. Stunned, we just stood there, until one woman at a table asked if we’d like a cup of tea. Of course!

There was a lovely samovar at the main table, and we received our tea with milk, sugar, and cookies.
An added perk occured when a table of women broke out into an acapella song. It’s hard to pick out the most enjoyable part of the weekend, since there were so many good things, but the Tula Tea Room might win because it was so pleasant and completely unexpected.
