Carlitos Cafe Y Cantina

The chicken mole tacos are good. Very good, in fact.

But…it was a little weird that the food brought to our table wasn’t ours. My own food hadn’t come yet, so my companions waited politely. It took somewhere between 5-10 minutes, and our actual order to arrive at another table, that all parties realized they had the wrong food. The food that had sat at our table during that time was unceremoniously picked up and plonked on the other table.
It was a very awkward moment between the tables. The most I could do was make a joke about it all, “Don’t worry guys, I licked everything, but I didn’t actually eat any of it.” And there was some token uncomfortable laughter.

And then, partway through my salad I realized that the rather large flake of pepper was really a dead fly. I tried to deny it for a bit, but pepper does not have wings and legs. Unless it’s, like, Always Pepper, new with wings! But I doubt it.

It was a business lunch, so I stayed composed. I’m sure there is ground up insect parts and other random detritus in all the packaged foods I eat anyway. Extra protein, right? I didn’t say anything until after I left, and then I told my co-worker. And blogged it.
