I like pizza mizza, no maybe I almost love it. okay, how about I am very very fond of Pizza Mizza. I like their combinations, it’s never been too greasy for me, and I like the ethos of the owners. It seems they are very community centric. Great deals for pizza mizza with your Axxess [...] March 29th, 2008 | Tags: pizza | Category: American food, Eating Out, Italian food, Santa Barbara | Leave a comment
I am no expert on this whole steak and hoagie thing, but I did like what I ordered. It was called the PMC and was a steak sandwich with peppers, mushrooms, onions and marinara on a soft roll. They have a lunch special that’s any sandwich, with fries and a drink for $8. The sandwich [...] March 27th, 2008 | Tags: college eats, hoagie, sandwich | Category: American food, Eating Out, Santa Barbara | Leave a comment
It’s a warm and cozy little place. Admirable decor for what is essentially an express joint for a quick slice on the go. And express we were, with 30 minutes available for dinner. The pizza was made fresh, with a crisp underside and melty cheese that didn’t feel oily, and we were in and out [...] March 26th, 2008 | Tags: fast food, pizza | Category: American food, Eating Out, Italian food, Santa Barbara | Leave a comment
Ah, the little lambs are on spring break, which means IV eateries aren’t heaving with youngin’s in the midst of drunken courtship. We used this time for a quick jaunt out to Freebirds and I am glad to note that my burrito of choice was still available. The place looks like its gone through some [...] March 24th, 2008 | Tags: burrito, college eats, open 24 hours | Category: Eating Out, Mexican food, Santa Barbara | Leave a comment
All Mika really has going for it is being a slightly healthier option in a food court of fast fatty eateries. But for being sushi, it’s culinarily dead. Have you ever seen those bento displays of perfect plastic sushi? That’s kind of what their sushi looks like and I think it tastes a little like [...] March 19th, 2008 | Tags: sushi | Category: Eating Out, Japanese food, Santa Barbara | Leave a comment
This is the nicest Ralph’s around, I call it Fancy Ralph’s. The architecture and landscaping is not what you’d associate with a grocery store, it’s very very nice, with Mediterranean tiles, fountains, and a pergola, with olive trees, lavender and rosemary. Inside, the food available is better than average grocery store fare. All the standard [...] I came here for a co-worker’s leaving lunch, she picked the place. The pizza seemed very bready and puffy. The dough seemed dry, while the cheese was oily. I got the slice, side salad and drink combo. I think it is normally about $6.00 after tax, but the slice is a plain cheese and extra [...] March 16th, 2008 | Tags: fast food, pizza | Category: American food, Eating Out, Italian food, Santa Barbara | Leave a comment
Cake mixes out of a box are so cheap and easy these days that I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to have some good cake made from scratch. Those few times I have, I am initially taken aback by the lack of “moistness,” and then I realize that moistness is not necessarily a good thing.
