Vices & Spices from around the world

I have been coming to Vices and Spices since I was in grade school, and the place is still as sensually dark, exotic and comforting as it appeared to me those many years ago.

The walls are lined with glass canisters of their teas and spices, and the air is filled with their aromas. Near the front counter is a selection of candies, like gummi coke bottles, lemondrops and liquorice allsorts.

This is a combination cafe and shop. In addition to the teas and spices are all the related accoutrements, like infusers, pots, mugs and tea and coffee ephemera. The cafe offers prepared coffee and espresso drinks, tea, and a small selection of pastries (not baked in-house).

Being uptown, this place definitely does not receive the tourist foot-traffic, and for those seeking a little tranquility, it’s such a blessing. It’s a great place to go for a read or to chat quietly with your best friend.
